About Us

Obscura: A True Crime Podcast is a podcast about shining a spotlight on the darker things in life. It's a podcast that takes a narrative approach to covering true stories. We cover murders, mysteries, missing persons, and more. We cover terrible acts in unflinching detail. Listener discretion is advised.

Member Benefits

Welcome listener. I'm glad you're here...

Why Premium?

This is our dream project.... but we have to make it sustainable. With your help I don't see why Obscura can't be an indefinite production. But we do need your help. At a certain point the many, many hours it takes to produce each episode can take its toll. That's where your help comes in. With enough budget Obscura can become a full time effort for all involved.

What makes your show worth expanding?

What makes Obscura: A True Crime Podcast different from a number of True Crime Podcasts is that it has a narrative focus. This basically means that you're not just getting the facts laid out in front of you. I've always been of the mind that wikipedia does that well enough for you.

Because of this, we create a cohesive story you can follow, with immersive sound and atmospheric music. Combine that with a sympathetic exploration of the victims. Too many podcasts in the true crime space feel exploitative for the sake of exploitation.  We want Obscura to show that you can tell an engaging, factual true crime story and remain respectful to the victims involved.

But isn't this easy work?

Each episode takes 40-80 hours of research, writing, editing, social networking and narration. This is our passion and we love to create. But we have no pretense that it's easy work.

What's in it for me?

Other than merchandise and early ad-free access to episodes... if you subscribe to Premium at the $5 level you will get access to monthly Black Label episodes.

Thank you for reading and...keep the fire burning.
